What CAN I ask you?

As the title of this blog suggests, I am here to attempt to answer questions you have about schools, especially public schools in Oklahoma. So much of what public schools do is based on federal and state law, and those laws aren’t always in alignment with each other. That’s something that makes my job fun, difficult, and interesting always!

So, go ahead! Ask me anything! Disclaimer: I won’t give you legal advice. This is about sharing experience in processes and giving you a backstage peek at what may be going on behind the scenes.

If I can’t answer, I will tell you why or may point you in a direction to try. And if I an answer, it’ll make my whole day to do so!

Below are some question ideas to get you started, but if you’ve found me here, I bet you already have a question or a few in mind… so let it rip!

What is the difference between a public school, a charter school, a private school, a Montessori, etc.?

My school told me I can’t have blue hair. Why not? (or is that even true?)

What is the difference between law, policy, and rules? Are they the same?

I’m pissed. How do I get my concern addressed with my kid’s school?

What is going on with the recent focus on student cell phones in school?

What is swatting?

I am an educator and am having trouble with parents in a custody battle. What should or shouldn’t I do?

Why is the punishment for one student different than another student who were involved in the exact same incident at the same time?

Note: Basically, let’s keep it high level and I can help point you in a direction. I want to help!
